emergency services

boy and dogThe foundation that VSS is built upon is to provide an advanced level of medical care for the patients that are entrusted to us. This guiding philosophy applies to all our activities, including the emergency services we provide at Savannah Regional Veterinary and Critical Care and OKI Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.

Our mission at these emergency centers is to provide top quality emergency and critical care to the pet owning community. We will do this by assembling highly trained and motivated professionals and para-professionals who will offer the same level of care to our clients as they would want for their own pets. We will remain compassionate and understanding of our clients during the stressful time of needing the services we provide.

VSS provides a complete range of emergency services, including post-trauma care and stabilization, acute illness diagnosis and care, and on-going care of patients transferred from general practitioners. We utilize modern medical equipment and techniques including pulse oximetry, electrocardiography, radiography, complete on-site laboratory, transfusion administration, isoflurane anesthesia, and surgery. Our emergency clinicians are also supported by our specialists for consultation about surgery and internal medicine.

We offer our clients what we know to be the best course of treatment for their pet. We recognize that not everyone is in a position to follow the best course, and will have other alternatives to offer in order to start the pet on the road to recovery prior to returning the pet to the care of their primary care veterinarian.
